Fighting for Palcing With 1 K
The Maglia Rosa Group never did chase down Uran but were very concerned with the few contenders that were left having gotten shut of Hesjedal, Wiggins, DiLuca, Paolini and other hopefuls. This year's Giro has small time bonuses for the first three placings so for Cadel and Nibali they could be sprinting for first place for all that was up for grabs. Nibali managed to defend his position in GC and actually gain about 3 seconds on Cadel thanks to the time bonus.
