Above the Sea
Today's stage wound along the eastern coast of southern Italy skirting the Adriatic Sea. For this painting the riders a climbing one of the many steep hills along the coast with a sheer drop to their right down to the shore. The last rider in line, Wauters, is giving a little push to Bellemakers, letting him know that he would prefer to stay at the back of the line. Most of these riders race together year in and year out and know each other rather well. I always wonder what language dominates the peleton, or is it the language of the host country?
