"I Didn't Know"
This is a rare confessional painting based on the moment I had the difference between my treatment by the police (a middle aged white male) and that of my companion (a young black male). It left me stunned and ashamed of my naivety. I have held this moment in my mind's eye for a quarter of a century before creating this Shiva Paintstik painting on paper.
