Unfortunate TdF108
Julian Alaphilippe (Etixx-Quickstep) was having a great day in the mountains. He had made it into the breakaway that stayed away. He had hung with all of the climbers in the group over 4 categorized climbs. And had even successfully attacked the leaders of the stage on the way down the back side of the Grand Colombier. Off camera, something went wrong for the young Frenchman and he simply disappeared from the screen. He was later picked up trying to adjust his bike on the side of the road. The camera watched him and those he had left on the descent as they speed by. Alaphilippe did not seem to be bloodied, so it may have been only a mechanical, but it still cost him his lead on the stage. At least, it didn't cost him some skin as well. He eventually got a new bike from his team car (not wanting to repeat the mistake of taking a bike from neutral service that may not work with his cleats). By then he could only join the third group on the road.
