Thus far the Tour has been relatively crash free. Obviously one crash started the demise of Alberto Contador (Tinkoff), but in general this has been the least crashes in quite a few years. This was the first time in modern history that the Tour carried every rider who started all the way to the start of the eight stage. Today however, the race doctor got a bit of a work out. With the winds, nervousness and everyone want to ride on the front, a number of riders were taking tumbles along the way. Riders, like Edward Theuns (Trek-Segafredo), took it in turns to stop by the "Medical Assistance" vehicle and get their wounds seen to on the fly. As fast as the peloton was riding today, it must be a real challenge to bandage a rider will the doctor's office is moving at over 40 kilometers per hour.
