Want My Treat? TdF37

As the peloton left the Feed Zone, teammates will often swap treats or even musettes. Since a rider must have particular favorites (or dislikes) in his goodie bag, it seems only natural that they may want to pass around there discards. Otherwise, they will soon become souvenirs for the fans lining the side of the road. After I finished this painting, I learned that what was being passed was a bag of ice. On hot days like today, riders will stuff a small bag of ice under the neckline of the back of their jerseys. The slowly (or not so slowly) melting ice will help to keep the rider cool in the 90 degree plus weather. It is nice the way my local weather in Richmond, Virginia is matching the weather of the Tour, although I don't think I will get to feel the cool mountain air of the coming stages this weekend.
