His First! TdF13

Long time readers of this blog will know that I love a title that has more than one interpretation and this one is now exception. Peter Sagan (Tinkoff) grabbed his first stage win since 2013 by waiting patiently for others to launch their attacks, and for the last member of the break to be caught for that matter. The wily Slovakian and World Champion forced Julian Alaphilippe (Etixx-Quickstep) to go first. He then easily came around the young Frenchman to claim the stage. Surprising to me, the victory also claimed Sagan's first ever Maillot Jaune, one of the few jersey that can rival the rainbow stripes of World Champion. Rounding out the podium finish was Alejandro Valverde (Movistar). With the finish being a climb, any gaps in the peloton will have riders losing time today. Notably, both Richie Porte (BMC) and Sagan's teammate, Alberto Contador (Tinkoff) fell victim to the clock.
