That's Embarassing G17-37

I was curious why Luka Pibernik (Bahrain-Merida) was opening up a gap on the peloton as he approached the bell lap at the end of Stage 5 in Messina. I assumed he was trying to repeat the successful effort of Lukas Postlberger in Stage 1. So when Pibernik threw his arms wide as he crossed the line, the answer was obvious for his move away from the peloton. I wonder just how embarassed he was when he realize that the race wasn't over yet. The clue might have been the lack of photographers, soigneurs and race officials standing in the wide open road ahead of him.
