Alena Amialiusik (Canyon/SRAM) chased the Queen of the Mountains virtuale over the Cote de Mutigny. As Femke Gerritse (Parkhotel-Valkenburg) sat up to wait for the others, Amialiusik seized the opportunity to go off the front alone. She built up a good lead with over a minute on the peloton with just 30 kilometers left to race. She did have to face a very hilly final lap around the vineyards outside of Epernay. She was able to hold off the peloton for awhile, but once caught she fell back considerably. She finished the day almost three minutes behind the winner of the stage. Still, nothing ventured, nothing gained.
