He Flew Away TdF22-21
As Wout Van Aert (Jumbo-Visma) came to the line alone, he had enough time to flap his arms as if he had wings. He had attacked on the final climb and almost literally flew alone to the finish line managing to finish eight seconds ahead of the chasing peloton. The gesture could also refer to the old expression that the "yellow jersey gives you wings." He did make that reference in his post race interview. After finishing second in the first three stages of this Tour, it had to be a great relief to finally win his first stage this year. Tomorrow he may be called upon to help his team leaders across the cobbles, or then again, he could go out and prove that he can win any type of stage in the Tour de France.
