I admit, I wasn't sure it would happen. I am very happy to have been wrong! Mark Cavendish (Astana-Qazaqstan) outsprinted the entire peloton to win Stage 5 of the 111th Tour de France! He showed a clean pair of wheels to the new marquee sprinter, Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin-Deceuninck) who in turn showed a clean set of wheels to sprinter of Cav's era, Alexander Kristoff (Uno-X Mobility). This means that he has now surpassed the record of 34 stage wins in the Tour by the legendary Eddy Merckx. Chapeau!
