Fun at 70 kph
Peter Sagan (Tinkoff Saxo) had gone out in the early break to earn the maximum points in the Sprinter's Jersey competition, but rather than drop back to the peloton, the Slovakian Champion continued on. Sagan the sprinter, actually managed to summit the Category 2 Col de Cabre first and then set off down the other side. He reached speeds approaching 70 kilometers per hour distancing all but Edvald Boasson Hagen as he whipped his bike from side to side through the sweeping curves of the descent. Was he trying to force a split in the lead group? No, says Jens Voigt, he is just having fun. I couldn't agree more, for those of us who suffer up climbs, there is nothing more fun than flying back down the other side.
