Doomed from the Start V-57
Alessandro de Marchi (BMC) and Rui Costa (Bahrain-Merida) were giving it yet another attempt at escaping the peloton for a stage victory. With Quickstep hell bent on geting Matteo Trentin across the line in first place, this effort was even more doomed than their other efforts. Joining the two seasoned campaigners was Nicholas Schultz (Caja Rural-Seguros), he was thrilled just to put himself off the front with a chance, no matter how bad the odds were for success.
